Fabio Meloni is an independent Italian perfumer born on the eastern coast of Sardinia, a land of wild nature and Mediterranean scrub that deeply shaped his creative vision and olfactory style. His work blends science, botany, and artistic perfumery, resulting in contemporary niche fragrances that are evocative, refined, and technically sophisticated.
He graduated with honors in Biology from the Università degli Studi di Cagliari, specializing in botany, and also earned a degree in Herbal Science and Technology from the Faculty of Pharmacy, with a thesis focused on extraction chemistry and the characterization of natural extracts. At the same university, he served as a lecturer for the course “Certified Quality,” deepening his expertise in raw material quality and traceability.
His academic and professional journey includes advanced studies in extraction sciences, gas chromatography, cosmetology, and perfumery, spanning from the lavender fields of Provence to Parisian laboratories, and culminating at the Florence Fragrance School, where he refined his skills in artistic fragrance composition.
Since 2018, he has worked as a laboratory manager and biologist in cosmetic, make-up, and fragrance research and development between Sardinia and Milan, combining scientific rigor with creative perfumery.
In 2018, he was awarded second prize at the OSA! Outsider Scent Awards with the fragrance Learn Something Different, inspired by Alice oltre lo specchio by Lewis Carroll. The composition, colorful and visionary, evokes imaginary flowers and psychedelic atmospheres, and also received a special award from the Adjiumi jury.
In 2019, he founded the independent studio Preparazioni Olfattive, a creative laboratory specializing in the development of niche fragrances and consultancy for artistic perfume brands. In 2020, he created the entire Toscane Bramasole fragrance line, inspired by the journeys of Renaissance alchemists traveling from Tuscany across Europe.
He is also the author of Profumeria applicata, the first study manual on fragrance composition sold in Italy, reflecting his technical, educational, and innovative approach to perfumery.
In 2025, he was selected among the 13 finalists of the prestigious Mouillette d’Argent with Bananambar, a fruity gourmand fragrance where banana notes unexpectedly evolve into a warm amber accord, enriched by cistus, resins, and Mediterranean maquis nuances.
Fabio Meloni represents one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Italian artistic perfumery, balancing scientific expertise, botanical research, and imaginative creativity to craft distinctive niche fragrances.
